A 40-year-old Baltimore man rejected a plea offer during reception court on Sept. 20 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Karl Anderson is charged with first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure. He was charged in connection to an incident on Nov. 23, 2020.
Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 25-35 years in prison for first-degree murder.
The defendant and his defense attorney, Sharon Dubey, rejected the plea offer.
According to CBS Baltimore, on Nov. 23 at approximately 7:44 a.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Burleith Avenue to investigate a stabbing. When they arrived, they found Bernard Richardson, 44, suffering from several stab wounds. He was taken to Sinai Hospital where he later died.
Shortly after the stabbing near Liberty Heights Avenue at Reisterstown Road, Anderson was arrested. He was charged in the fatal stabbing of Richardson.
Police said the men have family ties and there was an altercation before the stabbing.
Anderson’s trial has been scheduled for March 8, 2022.
