Homicide Defendant Accused of Argument Turned Fatal Shooting Scheduled for October Trial

A 30-year-old Baltimore man accused of fatally shooting someone after an argument last year rejected a plea of life on March 29 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

Lamar Williams is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on Aug. 22, 2021.

On Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life for first-degree murder. Williams and his defense attorney, William Gibbs Jr., rejected the plea.

According to the Baltimore Sun, officers were called to the 3100 block of Pulaski Highway in the Ellwood Park and Monument neighborhood for reports of shots fired. Police said Williams and the victim, later identified as Carlos Rodrigo Amador-Funez, were in a dispute when Williams allegedly pulled out a gun and started shooting.

Amador-Funez died days later on Aug. 26.

Williams’ trial is scheduled for Oct. 4.
