Five months ago, we started Baltimore Witness with the simple idea that all that was needed was for someone to share what what going on in the city’s courts and we could possibly see other ways to end the killing and shootings on our streets.
What we have found is a court system that has a backlog of more than 1,800 felony cases and has only had 14 trials since July. And within the court system, public information is routinely withheld.
Baltimore Witness is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization. We are not for nor against anything. We have no agenda other than the belief that transparency leads to accountability.
We are trying to raise $10,000 by December 31 to qualify for a donor match that will double that amount. Any thing helps.
