On Feb. 14, a defendant convicted of murdering a Baltimore Police Department (BPD) lieutenant’s husband accepted a plea during his hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Videtta A. Brown.
On Feb. 6, Sahiou Kargbo was convicted of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, and minor possession of a firearm in connection to the fatal shooting of 43-year-old James Blue. Karbo is scheduled to be sentenced for this conviction on June 2 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Schiffer.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Kargbo, who is represented by Todd Oppenheim, accepted a plea of five years for an amended charge of first-degree assault in connection to the non-fatal shooting of a male on the 300 block of Falls Way.
According to the assistant state’s attorney, on Jan. 15, 2022, the defendant was involved in a physical altercation outside an elevator, at which time the defendant allegedly pointed a 9-millimeter gun at the victim’s face. In an attempt to disarm the defendant, the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder during the struggle.
Kargbo, 19, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, minor possession of a firearm, having a handgun on his person, reckless endangerment, and destruction of property valued at up to $1,000.
During Tuesday’s hearing, the assistant state’s attorney noted that there would be a request for consecutive sentencing to Kargbo’s Feb. 6 conviction. This request is pending until the defendant is sentenced for his Feb. 6 conviction.
