Experts Testify in the 2022 Murder of a 19-Year-Old

Testimony began on July 29 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Robert K. Taylor, Jr., in the murder case of Damond Price, 19. 

The defendant, Devon Young, 24, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of firearm possession with a felony conviction and one count of firearm use in a felony violent crime in relation to a Jan. 27, 2022, shooting that killed Price. 

A Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officer, a medical examiner and a crime lab technician testified before the jury Monday. 

Young’s defense attorney, David Walsh-Little, questioned the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officer and crime lab technician about two phones recovered at the scene, one of which was identified as Young’s. Walsh-Little asked if the evidence was handled without gloves while the crime scene was being processed. 

The medical examiner said the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was homicide. The analyst also said Price sustained 13 gunshot wounds in his body in the attack.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on Jan. 27, 2022, the incident occurred at around 10:45 p.m. on the 4800 block of Lorelly Avenue. Police responded to a call for a shooting and found Price with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and pronounced dead two days later. 

The trial will continue on July 30.
