Eastern District Officers Report Multiple Fatalities Following Shooting on Greenmount Avenue

On July 8, at approximately 2:56 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Greenmount Avenue to investigate a ShotSpotter alert.

Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old male, 21-year-old Albertini Elcock, and 29-year-old Shurlon Cooper suffering from gunshot wounds. All three victims were transported to area hospitals where despite life-saving measures, Cooper and Elcock were pronounced deceased. The 20-year-old male had sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

During this incident, officers received a call for a walk-in shooting victim at an area hospital.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 19-year-old male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound(s). The 19-year-old is currently in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation revealed that there was a verbal dispute that led to a physical altercation, at which time gunshots were fired.

Homicide detectives responded and assumed control over this investigation.

The BPD later updated the crime scene address to the 500 block of East Eager Street.
