On June 14, a 41-year-old Baltimore resident accused of first-degree murder was set to stand trial in January of 2023.
Gerald Smith is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection with the shooting of Marvis Pollock on May 2, 2020, on the 2600 block of West Fairmont Avenue.
Smith has also been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of Brittaney Hayes-Smith on May 3, 2020 on the 2800 block of Clifton Park Terrace.
Initially, on Nov. 23, 2021, Smith was previously offered a plea of life without parole for first-degree murder, to which his defense attorney Karyn Meriwether, rejected the offer on his behalf.
Smith’s next hearing is scheduled for June 29. His trial is currently scheduled to begin on Jan 23, 2023. It is slated to last for 10 days.
