Co-defendants charged in a homicide over two years ago rejected a plea offer on Aug. 30 at the Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Baltimore resident Donyell Morris, 20, and Charles Anderson, 19, are charged with three counts of robbery; two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy to first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, armed robbery, conspiracy to armed robbery, and conspiracy to armed robbery; and one count of conspiracy to firearm use in a violent crime, having a handgun on their person, and conspiracy to having a handgun on their person.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Morris and Anderson allegedly shot a man in the chest and a woman in the head, killing them both, on July 2, 2019 on the 1200 block of Bloomingdale Road. The woman was identified as Brittany Foster, but the man’s name was not released.

On Monday, the prosecution offered the co-defendants life, suspending all but 70 years, for first-degree murder; 15 years, the first five years without parole, for firearm use in a violent crime; 15 years for armed robbery; and three years for having a handgun on their person, all of which would run concurrently.

Morris and Anderson’s defense attorneys, Robert Ness and Bradley MacFee, respectively, rejected the offer. Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled their trial date for March 14, 2022.

The co-defendants’ case was previously heard in reception court on July 28 when they rejected an offer of life, suspending all but 70 years, for first-degree murder, along with 15 years for using a firearm in a violent crime. MacFee also requested that Anderson be evaluated for competency once more due to a previously failed evaluation in 2020. It is unknown if that evaluation occurred.
