A Baltimore City Circuit Court jury convicted a murder defendant accused of killing a man after a neighborhood dog fight.

Tyyea Gee, 39, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and firearm possession with a felony conviction on April 26 for the shooting death of 37-year-old Ronnie Gibson.

On Jan. 13, 2023, Gee and another man allegedly chased Gibson down after he had gotten into an argument with Gee’s girlfriend over her dog getting loose and fighting another dog in the Brooklyn neighborhood in south Baltimore.

Though Gee’s attorney, James Sweeting III, argued that surveillance footage was too unclear to identify either of the two assailants on the 800 block of Stoll Street, the prosecution pointed to the killer’s outfit, which matched items Baltimore Police Department officers later found at Gee’s home.

Judge Videtta A. Brown will sentence Gee on June 11. At the time of the trial, Gee’s co-conspirator had yet to be identified or charged.
