Detectives Seek Information Regarding Fatal Robbery in Southeast District

On Aug. 18, at approximately 12:25 a.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 1000 block of South Curley Street, for a report of a shooting.

Once there, officers located a 57-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medics responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 29-year-old male was on the 1000 block of South Curley Street, when he was approached by three unidentified black male suspects, that produced a gun and announced a robbery. 

During the course of the robbery, a 57-year-old male relative of the 29-year-old, retrieved a firearm from his home and gave chase to the suspects.

As the suspects were fleeing the location with the 29-year-old male victim’s property that included the victim’s red Dodge Charger (MD tag #3FL1240) the suspects fired at the victims, fatally shooting the 57-year-old male.

The 57-year-old male victim has been identified as Darrell L. Benner of Baltimore.
