Detectives Continue Investigation of Fatal 2016 Shooting

Baltimore Police Department detectives from the Northeast District are investigating a double shooting that occurred on the 3000 block of Reese Street on March 10, 2016.

According to a press release, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds on the 700 block of Filmore Street. One of the victims, 20 year-old Darius Bruce, was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The other victim, Orlando Smith, remained in critical condition until he died on Jan. 15, 2021. He was 27 years old at the time of his death.

On May 17, a medical examiner’s report, stated that Smith died from complications of the 2016 shooting. His death was ruled a homicide.

The police have not apprehended any suspects for this shooting. The case remains open.
