The defense attorney for Isaiah Eddy, 33, challenged the prosecution’s evidence in a murder trial on March 11 before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Melissa Phinn.

Isaiah Eaddy, 33, is being charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, two counts of firearm possession with a felony conviction, and two counts of having a handgun in his possession in relation to the Jan 26, 2024 murder of Kareem Gee at the entrance to a convenience store in the 1200 block of East Preston Street.

The prosecution presented an autopsy report showing the victim was shot in the chest and the bullet lodged in his back.

Additionally, they demonstrated a DNA analysis from a hat left at the crime scene strongly suggesting it belongs to the defendant. The prosecution also introduced convenience store surveillance video surveillance footage showing the shooting and a person identified as the defendant fleeing the scene. He quickly returns wearing a mask to recover an electric bike.

“Yes this is the evidence, it clearly shows the defendant extended his arm and shot the victim in the chest,” said the lead detective on the case.

Defense attorney Matthew Connell argued no witness could confirm the shooter’s identity. Connell also suggested shell casings found near the scene imply that other shooters were present.

“You have no CCTV, no witness testimonies, and no other video evidence suggesting where the other shells came from,” he said. ”Aren’t you curious about who squeezed out those other shells?”

“I do have a witness,” the detective said, pointing to the video, “that is my witness.”

The trial continues.
