Defense counsel in the murder trial of a Baltimore man informed the court that he is waiting for more evidence from the prosecution before being able to set a trial date.

Michael Joseph, 44, is charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in a violent crime in connection to an incident on Feb. 12.

Joseph’s defense attorney, Brandon Mead told the judge about the pending evidence after the prosecution did not offer Joseph a plea deal Sept. 27.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Joseph allegedly shot and killed his stepson, who was a musician and studio engineer, inside Joseph’s South Baltimore music studio and lounge on the 100 block of Baltic Avenue.

Police were called to the business around midnight when Joseph, also known as “King Cutty,” took them to the second floor. Officers found Kamari Ivery-Williams, 25, lying on his side with multiple gunshot wounds to the body, the news article reported.

Officers asked people inside the business to help them identify the shooter when Joseph approached a patrol officer, placed his hands behind his back and allegedly said it was him.

The article stated that a handgun was also found on a table and registered to Joseph.

Joseph is scheduled to return to reception court on Oct. 18.
