On Aug. 14, defense attorney Michael Munafo informed Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn that he will be withdrawing his appearance from his client’s case.
Defendant Kenard Wiley was moving to the Office of Public Defenders and would be represented by Judit Otvos for all future court proceedings.
Judge Phinn set the trial for Nov. 28 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart-Mays.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Wiley, 23, is charged with two counts each of attempted first- and second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, one count each having a loaded handgun on his person and in his vehicle, one count each of having a handgun on his person and in his vehicle, illegal possession of ammunition, firing a gun in Baltimore City and two counts of malicious destruction of property valuing more than $1000 in connection to a April 5 incident.
Charging documents state that the victims advised a patrol officer that Wiley allegedly shot at them after a dispute at the family home on the 2300 block of E. Northern Parkway. One of the victim’s is the defendant’s father and Wiley was visiting the home when the incident occurred.
The victims told police that Wiley followed them when they fled the scene in a car. The victims advised police that the defendant pulled up in front of the victims and shot at them when they tried to drive away.
