A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge scheduled the trial for a Baltimore man accused of murder on Feb. 10.
A stand-in for defense attorney John Cox, rejected a plea on behalf of defendant Carlos Pearson on Friday.
Pearson, 26, rejected a plea of 40 years, suspending 20 years for second-degree murder and a consecutive sentence of 20 years, suspending all but five years without the possibility of parol, with five years of supervised probation for using a firearm in a felony violent crime. The defendant would have been also required to register as a gun offender.
Subsequently, Judge Phinn scheduled the defendants trial to begin on Aug. 21 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gregory Sampson.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Pearson is charged with second-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, three counts of altering physical evidence, and burring and disposing of a body in an unauthorized place in connection the shooting of 23-year-old Quincy Harris.
