A homicide defendant was found competent and criminally responsible on Feb. 23 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin
James Grimes Jr., 28, is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, carrying or wearing a firearm, discharging a firearm, and illegal possession of ammo in relation to an incident on March 14, 2020.
During mental health court Grimes’ defense attorney Samuel Seidler said he will contest the judge’s ruling of criminally responsible.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Grimes allegedly shot a 30-year-old MTA bus driver over a verbal dispute on the 2500 block of Washington Blvd on March 14, 2020.
After exiting the bus, Grimes allegedly turned around and shot the driver one time to the chest. The driver did survive the shooting
Grimes’ trial is scheduled for March 16.
