On Jan. 17, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn postponed the trial of a woman charged with the murder of her husband.

During Tuesday’s reception court hearing, defense attorney Tony Garcia on behalf of defendant Shakurah Eason requested a postponement of the trial due to destroyed evidence. The defense will need additional time for an expert to analyze evidence similar to the one that was destroyed.

Judge Phinn postponed the trial to Aug. 22. It is expected to last four days with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Dana Middleton presiding.

In June 2022, Eason’s trial was postponed due to her baby’s delivery date coinciding with the scheduled trial date.

According to charging documents, on Nov. 11, 2021, the couple had a verbal argument in a car in the driveway of a hotel. Donald Eason exited the vehicle and continued the argument at the front driver’s window. Eason allegedly struck Donald with the car and drove over him in the 800 block of North Wolfe Street. He was pronounced dead six days later.
