On Aug 5, a murder defendant accepted a plea offer before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Troy K. Hill.
Jonathan Bowman, 28, is charged with second-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime in connection to the April 24, 2021, murder of 25-year-old Demetris Henry.
Bowman and Henry used to be roommates and lived on the 3400 block of Fairview Avenue. Bowman shot Henry during a verbal dispute.
Represented by his attorney, Judit Otvos, Bowman accepted a plea offer of 52 years in prison, suspending all but 19 years, with five years of supervised probation. The first five years of the sentence is set to be served without the possibility of parole.
During the proceedings, Henry’s family was present. Henry’s mother described him as a kind and caring person who didn’t deserve this.
She expressed relief that the ordeal was over and that she would never forgive Bowman.
Bowman apologized to Henry’s family even though he said he knew it wouldn’t change anything.
