Couple Facing Attempted Murder Charges Reject Plea in 2022 Shooting Incident

Co-defendants accused in an attempted murder that occurred in April 2022 were scheduled for trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn on Jan. 20. 

Defendants Alicia Ford and Tracy Louis Crosby Hargrove are facing charges of two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, and conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime. 

Ford, 35, is charged with another count of attempted second-degree murder, having a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, and inducing/inhibiting testimony in connection to an incident that occurred on April 16, 2022. 

According to charging documents, Ford and the victim got into a verbal argument that escalated into a fight. 

Ford left in a Blue Dodge Avenger, saying, “I’ll be back.” Approximately 30 minutes later, the victim and her boyfriend were almost hit by a Blue Dodge Avenger. 

Ford and Hargrove then got out of the car, and Hargrove fired a gun. They started chasing the victim. The victim tripped and was stabbed multiple times by Ford. The victim’s boyfriend was held at gunpoint by Hargrove.

The prosecution offered Ford a plea of 20 years, suspending all but six years with five years of supervised probation for attempted first-degree murder and a concurrent two years for inducing false testimony. The defendant must stay away from the victim and attend an anger management program.

Hargrove, 35, was offered a plea of 12 years, suspending all but three years for conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and a concurrent three years with three years of supervised probation for second-degree assault. Hargrove is also required to stay away from the victim. 

Ford and Hargrove both rejected the pleas offered to them. 

The prosecution requested a motion to sever the trials of the co-defendants, in which the defendants will be tried separately. 

Judge Phinn granted the motion to sever the trials. 

Ford’s trial date is scheduled for May 16 with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Erik Atas presiding.  

Hargrove’s trial is scheduled to take place before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Cythnia Jones on May 24.

Both trials are expected to last three days.
