A Baltimore man charged with attempted murder has a competency evaluation pending on April 5 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Mark Williams, 58, is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Oct. 7 ,2021.
During court proceedings on Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 25 years suspending all but five years with five years supervised probation upon release for first-degree assault and 20 years, with the first five years without parole, for use of a firearm during a violent crime.
Under the plea, the defendant must register as a gun offender and recieve a mental health treatment.
Without accepting or declining the offer, Williams’ defense attorney Thomas Rafter informed the court that his client has a pending competency evaluation, which he noted was recently filed.
Williams’ next hearing is scheduled for July 8.
