After a shooting in April, defendant Tomekyo Williams,45, decided to opt for a jury trial while his co-defendant Javon Brown, 22, took a plea deal.
Brown pled guilty to three out of seven charges, which included assault, using a handgun in a violent crime, and illegally owning a handgun due to a prior conviction. He was sentenced to ten years and four years of probation.
Williams is facing similar charges.
The victim had a gunshot wound to the head and left shoulder, but survived.
A Shotspotter alert to the sound of gunfire directed Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers to the 1800 Block of West Pratt Street on April 15, 2025. Officers allegedly saw Brown following the victim from the crime scene, but when Brown noticed police officers he reportedly went towards a black van, and fled.
The vehicle crashed on the 800 Block of Boyd Street, and Brown and two other individuals exited the car allegedly holding a handgun. Officers say they caught him after he tried to flee on foot.
Williams was arrested after a bystander called 911 after seeing him wandering in their backyard. A witness later identified Williams as the driver of the black van.
Jury selection is currently underway.
