The case of an attempted homicide defendant was dismissed on Nov. 8 after the prosecution said her witness moved out of state and was no longer in contact with the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Office.
Rasheed Horton, 20, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, firearm possession with a felony conviction, and having a handgun on his person.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Horton was also charged with second-degree murder; however, defense attorney Warren Brown informed Baltimore Witness that charges against Horton were only for attempted murder.
WMAR Baltimore previously reported that Horton allegedly shot a 36 year-old man on April 11 on the 3200 block of Belair Road. The victim survived.
During reception court on Monday, the prosecution moved to dismiss the case as the sole witness moved.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn granted the dismissal.
