BPD: Southwest District Man Shot Robbing Church Construction Site

On May 26, at approximately 7:56 a.m., Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 100 block of South Mount Street for a report of a shooting.

Once there, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers located a 59-year-old male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics responded to the location and transported the male victim to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the 59-year-old male was burglarizing a church, that was vacant and under construction, on the 100 block of South Mount Street, when he was shot.

Investigators are currently conducting interviews to learn what led up to the shooting. Southwest District detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2488 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.

Update: As of July 23, this case has been ruled a “justified shooting” per BPD.
