BPD Releases Body-Worn Camera Footage from June Police Officer-Involved Shooting

The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) released video footage from the June 29, fatal shooting that occurred on the 100 block of North Milton Avenue.

On June 29, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the suspect fired at officers who returned fire on the 100 block of North Milton Street.

The suspect fired multiple rounds and officers discharged their firearms.

The suspect had four loaded firearms with him at the time, two of which were configured to fire as automatic weapons.

The individual, later identified as 40-year-old Darryl Gamble, was wounded and pronounced dead on the scene. Four weapons were recovered on the scene.

The officers involved were:

  • Officer Matthew Banocy, a 4 1/2-year veteran, assigned to the Southeast District
  • Officer Nicholas DeJesus, a 2-year veteran, assigned to the Southeast District
  • Officer Austin Gutridge, a 2 1/2- year veteran, assigned to the Eastern District Action Team
  • Officer Connor Johnson, a 4 1/2-year veteran, assigned to the Eastern District Action Team
  • Officer Nevin Nolte, a 2 1/2-year veteran, assigned to the Southeast/East Side Initiative

No officers were injured during the incident. They remain on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

The investigation will be conducted by the Independent Investigations Division of the Attorney General’s Office and BPD’s Special Investigative Response Team (SIRT).
