Homicide defendant Quanta Worrell and his defense attorney, Josh Insley, rejected the prosecutor’s plea of 50 years on July 8 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

Worrell, 31, has 19 charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of use of a firearm during a violent crime, two counts of conspiracy to commit use of a firearm during a violent crime, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on March 25, 2020.

Worrell and Insley rejected the prosecution’s plea of life, suspending all but 50 years in prison, for first-degree murder and 20 years in prison for using a firearm during a violent crime.

According to Fox 45, Worrell had previously argued with Baltimore resident Stephen Sanders, 38. Sanders then proceeded to hire Hyattsville resident Dimarcus Waldo to drive him to the Baltimore’s Park Heights section. Upon reaching the 3000 block on Oakley Avenue, Worrell and two accomplices allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, with at least 20 rounds striking the car. Waldo was killed instantly, and Sanders later died from his injuries.

Worrell’s trial date is set for Sept. 8. The trial is expected to last five days.
