The bail review for a defendant who allegedly murdered a volunteer firefighter, which originally set for Oct. 18, was postponed due to the defense counsel not being available.

Daniel Greene, 39, is charged with first-degree murder, home invasion, firearm use in a violent crime, and having a handgun on his person in connection to the fatal shooting of volunteer firefighter Jon Hickey in Upper Fells Point in November 2017.

According to WBAL TV, Greene was charged with the “execution-style murder” of Hickey. The prosecution said that the possible motive for the crime revolved around a love triangle, which involved Greene’s ex-mistress.

Defense attorney Warren Brown was unavailable to appear and is in the process of requesting a new date for the bail review.

Judge Phillip S. Jackson said the postponement is acceptable.

A trial date is still set for Feb. 1, 2022.
