A bail review hearing was postponed for a 34-year-old man accused of shooting a taxi driver in an armed carjacking before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong.
Gary Weldon is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, carjacking and armed carjacking, firearm use during a felony violent crime, car theft, unauthorized removal of property, reckless endangerment, firearm possession with felony conviction and handgun on person.
On Feb. 22, Judge Hong listened as Weldon’s defense attorney, Judit Otvos, waived her client’s appearance, due to medical issues. Otvos also requested to postpone the defendant’s hearing because she has not obtained the proper medical records for the defendant since he suffers from medical conditions.
After listening to the defense’s motion, Judge Hong postponed the hearing.
According to CBS Baltimore, on July 25, 2021, officers were called to the 3700 block of Nortonia Road for reports of shots fired around 11:44 p.m. They found a 34-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Police were able to identify Weldon as a suspect using his fanny pack, which the victim managed to grab during the shooting.
Weldon’s next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19.
