Attempted Murder Defendant Takes Plea Deal

Before jury selection started on July 14, defendant Tomekyo Williams, 45, decided to take a plea deal for an attempted murder case. Baltimore City Police were alerted to a shooting on the 1800 Block of West Pratt on April 15, 2025, and officers saw Williams walking away with the victim.

When Williams saw officers approaching he went towards a black van and fled. Eventually, the owner of the black van identified Williams and police arrested him.

Williams and defense attorney Alex Leikus admitted guilt for conspiracy to first- degree murder. According to the terms of the deal, he will serve seven years in prison followed by three years of supervised probation.

During jury selection on July 13, the prosecution requested testimony from a witness supposedly in custody but his whereabouts were unknown, according to the sheriff’s department. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays asked for clarification.

Later, a man entered the courtroom and identified himself as the anticipated witness. He had been subpoenaed but the document sent him to the wrong place. Since he had not shown up to testify, there was a warrant out for his arrest.  However, Judge Mays dropped the warrant due to the paperwork error.
