A 21-year-old Baltimore man rejected a plea for attempted murder on Dec. 19 and will proceed to trial in May 2023.
During reception court before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn, Draquan Smith rejected the prosecution’s plea offer of life, suspending all but 20 years for attempted first-degree murder and 20 years, with five years of no parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime. Smith would also be required to stay away from the victim and register as a gun offender.
Counsel then agreed on a trial date of May 15, 2023, before Judge Melissa Copeland.
