On Oct. 5, an attempted murder defendant rejected a plea deal before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

Kilo Byrd is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a loaded handgun on his person and discharging a firearm within Baltimore City in connection to a May 30 incident.

Byrd, 45, and his attorney, Andrew Saller, rejected an aggregate plea offer of 15 years, suspending all but five years, without the possibility of parole with three years of supervised probation for first-degree assault and firearm use in felony violent crime. Byrd would have also been required to register as a gun offender.

Judge Phinn scheduled Byrd’s trial to begin on Dec. 4 before Judge Melissa K. Copeland.
