Attempted Murder Defendant Rejects 20-Year Plea

Baltimore woman charged with attempted murder rejected a plea of 20 years on Sept. 14 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

The prosecutor presented a plea to Keyonna Taylor of 20 years, suspending all but 15 years with the first five years without parole with three years probation for the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime; 25 years suspending all but three years probation for first-degree assault; three years for having a handgun on her person. The charges are set to run concurrently.

Taylor, 20, is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm as a minor, and having a handgun on her person in connection to an incident on March 16.

Taylor and her defense attorney Tony Garcia rejected the plea.

Taylor’s trial is scheduled for Oct. 18 and is expected to last three days with Judge Paul E. Alpert presiding.
