On Aug. 10, the attempted murder case for a 19-year-old Baltimore man was rescheduled until next Monday before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland

Michael Reed is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm as a minor, four counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a loaded handgun on his person, discharging a firearm, two counts of wearing/carrying/transporting a handgun within 100 yards of a school, and illegal possession of ammunition in connection to an incident on Nov. 24, 2020.

During court proceedings, the stand-in prosecutor requested a postponement due to the initial prosecutor recently being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Reed’s defense counsel, Kenneth Ravenell, told Judge Copeland that he previously asked Judge Melissa M. Phinn if he could get a “motion” that was not discussed in detail to be rescheduled. Judge Phinn said that if he and the initial prosecutor could agree on a date then she could probably reschedule the motion.

Ravenell also added that Judge Phinn noted that the agreement could have been made on Wednesday before the hearing with Judge Copeland, but, if not, the case would be rescheduled for reception court.

Defense counsel decided to wait until Monday when Judge Phinn is slated to return.

Reed’s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 15.
