A 37-year-old  attempted murder defendant pleaded guilty to lesser charges in an agreement before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow on June 25.

Calvin Marshall Jr. was charged with three counts each of attempted first- and second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree assault, four counts of reckless endangerment, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle and firing a gun in Baltimore City in connection to a July 23, 2023, incident.

Under the plea deal that the prosecution offered, Marshall will serve 20 years, suspending all but 10 years, for first-degree assault and  a concurrent five year sentence for firearm use in a felony violent crime with five years of supervised probation. The prosecution dropped all other charges against Marshall. Marshall was represented by his defense attorney Jeremy Eldridge

According to Maryland District Court charging documents, on July 23, 2023, Baltimore Police Department officers responded to a shooting victim at Good Samaritan Hospital. They later identified a crime scene on the 1400 block of Meridene Drive. Witnesses identified Marshall as the shooter to police.
