On July 23, an attempted murder defendant accepted a plea agreement before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Kendra Y. Ausby for a 2023 shooting.

Devaun Jones, 28, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, discharging a firearm, carrying a gun within 100 yards of the public and two counts of reckless endangerment in relation to an incident on the 1700 block of Rutland Avenue on June 2, 2023.

The plea offer was three years, suspending all but the time served, 292 days; two years of supervised probation; and to register as a gun offender upon release for the charge of having a handgun on his person. All other charges were dropped.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, surveillance footage shows two suspects hooting at a dark vehicle at the location. One suspect, thought to be Jones, was seen running toward Rutland Avenue from East Lafayette Street, where he was observed taking a handgun into each hand before hiding behind a tree. After the vehicle left, the suspect thought to be Jones dropped a dark-colored bag and fled.
