A Baltimore man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a 17-year-old during an altercation.
The Baltimore Police Department reported that Michael McDowell, 21, was arrested on Nov. 11 and taken to the Northwestern District precinct for questioning. He was later denied bail and is being held until trial.
McDowell is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person and in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm, according to the Maryland Judiciary website.
Police reported that the incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on Nov. 5 when the victim was walking on the 3600 block of Park Heights Avenue and was shot in the leg. Investigation revealed that McDowell and the victim were fighting when the former pulled out a gun.
The two struggled over the gun when it fired, police said.
