Attempted Homicide Defendant Takes 35-Year Plea in Washington Boulevard Shooting Case

A 21-year-old Baltimore man will serve 35 years in prison for attempted murder after agreeing to a plea deal on Feb. 21.

According to Fox45 News, Thelonious Monk was accused of shooting a 34-year-old man on the 2400 block of Washington Boulevard on Jan. 18, 2022. He later turned himself in five months later when he appeared on FOX45’s Maryland’s Most Wanted.

On Tuesday, the prosecution offered Monk a plea of 30 years, suspending all but 20 years, and five years of supervised probation for attempted second-degree murder and a consecutive 20 years, suspending all but 15 years, for firearm use in a felony violent crime. The defendant accepted the plea before his defense attorney, Jason Rodriguez, and Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams.
