Opening statements and victim testimony in a road rage shooting involving a scooter were presented on Sept. 22 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Videtta Brown.
In her testimony, the victim said during a 911 call, “I felt like my life was in danger!”
Buddy Rositzky, 25, is accused of attempted first-and-second-degree murder, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent felony, reckless endangerment, having a handgun on his person, carrying and transporting a weapon during the commission of a crime, and discharging a weapon within Baltimore City limits.
According to the statement of charges, on March 7, officers arrived at the 300 block of South Poppleton Street after a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a 33-year-old female victim. The victim told police that while she was driving her vehicle, she pulled around two men on scooters who were moving slowly. After passing them, she alleged that one of the suspects pulled up to her passenger-side window and fired a shot, apparently in retaliation for the traffic maneuver.
The victim said she then grabbed her legally registered firearm from the middle console and returned fire at the suspects.
During opening statements, defense attorney Jason Rodriguez alleged that the victim was the aggressor and that the defendant acted in self-defense in response to the victim’s road rage.
However, during the witness testimony, prosecutors played a 911 call and body camera footage from the night of the shooting. The victim said her account was consistent with the footage shown in court.
The trial will continue Sept. 23.
