Assault Victim Succumbs to Injuries Days Later

On Sept. 21, at approximately 3:23 a.m., Southeast District officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of Eastern Avenue in response to a reported aggravated assault. 

Once there, Baltimore Police Department officers located a 27-year-old male suffering injuries and began to provide medical assistance. Medics arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. 

During the course of the investigation, a 28-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with firs-degree assault.

On September 25, 2024, the victim, 27-year-old Kevin Mejia died of his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.

Homicide Detectives have assumed control over the investigation. Detectives are working alongside the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine additional charges for the arrested suspect.
