The trial of a 37-year-old Baltimore man charged with first-degree murder was scheduled on Aug. 30 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Calvin McCrea is charged in connection to an incident on July 18, 2019. He is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle.
On Monday, defense attorney Sharon Dubey, said that McCrea rejected the prosecution’s plea offer of life, suspending all but 50 years, with five years probation for first-degree murder, and 20 years, the first five years without parole, to run concurrently for firearm use in a violent crime.
McCrea is also facing assault and firearm charges in another case for which he was offered a plea of 20 years for first-degree assault to be served consecutively with the other plea.
McCrea has already waived his May Hick’s date, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his first court appearance.
Judge Melissa M. Phinn set a trial date for Feb. 2, 2022.
