A 35-year-old Baltimore man was found competent to stand trial in connection to the attempted murder of two women earlier this year.

Eric Terry is charged with multiple counts of attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment, as well as firearm use in a violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of firearms with drugs, illegal possession of ammo, and discharging a firearm.

According to CBS Baltimore, two women, 18 and 21, were found with gunshot wounds on Jan. 3 on the 4200 block of Bonner Road. Both victims had non-life threatening injuries and were treated at a nearby hospital.

Terry was later arrested on the 1600 block of McKean Street, the report states.

During mental health court on Wednesday, the prosecution told Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin that Terry was competent and criminally responsible for the crime. Defense attorney Sharon Bogins Eberhart said they did not agree Terry is criminally responsible and that the defense plans to refute that claim on a later date.

Judge Rasin said she found beyond reasonable doubt that Terry is competent to stand trial and that if the defense wishes to pursue that he is not criminally responsible, his tentative trial date of Oct. 25 would have to be postponed.
