All Charges Dropped for Baltimore Man Accused of Attempted Murder

The prosecution decided to drop all of the charges against a 26-year-old Baltimore man on March 9 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony F. Vittoria

Donte Evans was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, two count of use of a firearm during a violent crime, having a handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm within Baltimore city in connection to an incident on May 11, 2021. 

During Wednesday’s proceeding, Judge Vittoria listened as the prosecutor informed the court of his numerous attempts to contact the victim. The prosecutor said the victim refused to talk to him, which forced him to enter a nolle pros. 

Evans was represented by defense attorney Benjamin Charlton. 

Evans has four prior convictions that he received on Aug. 8, 2021, including second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, resist/interfere with arrest, and malicious destruction of property with a value greater than $1000.

According to WMAR News, on May 11, 2021, patrol officers were called to an area hospital at approximately 9:05 p.m. for reports of a walk-in shooting victim. They found a 38-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. 

Investigators believe the shooting took place on the 2900 block of Round Road, said police.
