After nearly two years of incarceration, a non-fatal shooting defendant accepted a plea of five years without parole on April 15 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
During reception court on Friday, the prosecution offered 33-year-old Rumondo Wise a sentence of 20 years, suspending all but five years, for one count of armed robbery; five years without parole for firearm use during a felony violent crime, and three years for having a handgun on his person.
All sentences will run concurrently for a total of 20 years, suspending all but five years without parole.
The defendant was originally facing multiple charges of armed robbery, robbery, and assault as well as numerous weapons charges in connection to a non-fatal shooting on March 30, 2020.
According to the prosecution, the shooting occurred in the Madison Park neighborhood, where officers with the Baltimore Police Department were called to the 1700 block of Madison Avenue and found a female victim with a gunshot wound to her right side. The victim identified the defendant as the suspect.
In addition to the aforementioned plea agreement, the defendant was ordered to stay away from the victim and register as a gun offender.
