Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer presided over the sentencing of a one-time accused leader of the 39 Babies’ gang. Ernest Hudson, 38, pleaded guilty to a number of gang-related charges during an Aug. 12 hearing.
He faced more than 130 counts, including attempted first-degree murder, being a drug key player in the criminal organization and many other firearm and other drug charges.
Before Judge Schiffer with his attorney, Gregory Fischer, Hudson accepted a plea agreement of 20 years for organizing, supervising or financing a criminal organization, a concurrent five years without the possibility of parole for distributing a large amount of controlled dangerous substances and a consecutive five years without the possibility of parole for firearm possession with a felony conviction.
Hudson and his attorney told the court that he would submit a motion to modify the 25 year sentence after the first five years of incarceration.
