On Feb. 5, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled a motions date to potentially join a 28-year-old man’s case with his co-defendant’s.

Christopher McLean is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment from a car in connection to an Aug. 18, 2023, incident.

The prosecutor did not extend a plea offer to McLean or his co-defendant.

The prosecutor then told the court there was a pending motion to join the two cases together. When asked if the court would consider a May date for the motion, Judge Copeland said, “Absolutely not.”

In private discussions, defense attorney Daniel Mooney, standing in for Robert D. Cole, Jr., on McLean’s behalf, Megan Lewis on behalf of McLean’s codefendant and the prosecutor agreed on an earlier motion date.

Judge Copeland scheduled the joinder motion to be heard the afternoon of March 8 before Judge Jeannie J. Hong. She advised that counsel would need to return to reception court on March 11 to schedule the co-defendants’ trial or trials.
