A firearm connected to a February 2023 murder was presented in Baltimore City Circuit Court on July 11 in front of a jury and Judge Jeannie J. Hong.

The firearm was allegedly used by 23-year-old Jared Ford, for allegedly shooting 23-year-old Mason Cole near the 5500 block of Bowleys Lane in February 2023. A couple of shootings happened a few days near the block after Cole’s murder, which is also believed to be caused by Ford.

Ford’s charges for both Cole’s murder and the shootings include two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of firearm usage in a felony or violent crime, loaded handgun in a vehicle, loaded handgun on a person, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a firearm, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to attempted first-degree murder, and firearm possession in a felony or violent crime.

The prosecution, using surveillance footage, showed Ford around the block at the time of Cole’s murder.  Footage also showed Ford near the other shootings a couple days later.

According to the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), the same firearm was used in both Cole’s murder and the shootings.

Ford’s defense attorney Roya Hanna said there were no eyewitnesses for the murder or the shootings.

Ford’s trial is expected to continue on July 12.
