On July 16, counsel delivered opening statements in the trial of a 26-year-old defendant accused of attempted murder before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Videtta A. Brown.

Dariel Doncha’e Glenn is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, carrying a handgun on his person, firing and discharging a weapon, illegal possession of ammunition and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Aug. 27, 2023.

During their opening statement, the  prosecution said Glenn shot the victim in the head, leaving the victim bleeding on the ground on the 500 block of North Edgewood Street.

The prosecutor noted that the victim knew Glenn and identified him to Baltimore Police Department (BPD) investigators by his nickname.

Defense attorney Natalie Finegar emphasized that jurors would see inconsistencies in the prosecution’s evidence. Finegar also pointed out the uncertainty surrounding the victim’s identification of Glenn as the shooter.

The trail is scheduled to continue on July 17.
