Suspect in Child’s Stabbing Death Waits for Trial Date

A 33-year-old suspected of murdering his girlfriend’s child did not receive a trial date on June 7 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland. The defendant’s attorney requested additional time to prepare.

Alan Geslicki is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of a child under 13, first-degree child abuse resulting in severe physical injury and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure for the Jan. 23 stabbing death of 6-year-old Seron O’Neal.

The prosecution offered Geslicki life, suspending all but 60 years, with five years of supervised probation and an order to stay away from the victim’s family upon release. Geslicki’s attorney Koryn High told the court that while she had not yet relayed the offer, she presumed that it would be rejected based on her conversations with her client.

High also asked Judge Copeland for another reception court date to allow her more time to obtain an expert witness. The judge would allow her a maximum of 30 days.

Counsel agreed to reappear in reception court June 28 to schedule Geslicki’s trial.

A Baltimore Police Department press release states Geslicki was O’Neal’s mother’s boyfriend and that he was arrested in a traffic stop. The murder took place in a home on the 2000 block of Deering Avenue.
