A 22-year-old Baltimore man will remain held without bail after a Baltimore City Circuit Court judge deemed the District Court’s decision “appropriate” during a bail review proceeding on May 17.
The case of Keiontay Woodlon was brought before Judge Jeffrey M. Geller to reassess the District Court’s decision to deny the defendant’s bail last month. Woodlon is currently charged with attempted murder, assault and weapons charges for a shooting on Feb. 23.
Defense attorney Kati-Jane Childs informed Judge Geller that Woodlon was approved for home detention and asked for her client’s release.
“We understand the charges are what they are and he will face them in court,” Childs said.
The prosecution argued against Woodlon’s release, saying city surveillance footage shows the defendant firing 14 shots at the victim in addition to Woodlon’s actions before and after the incident. He then allegedly stole a company vehicle to drive away.
Woodlon is a danger to the community, the prosecutor added, and a flight risk given he previously failed to appear in court for driving without a license in 2021 and had an outstanding warrant for five months.
Judge Geller upheld the District Court’s decision and said there were no conditions of release.
