Former Morgan State Student Gets 25 Years for Murder of 19-Year-Old Security Guard

A former Morgan State University student convicted of fatally shooting 19-year-old security guard Julian Fruh in August 2022 was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Jan. 16.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gregory Sampson presided over the morning sentencing of 22-year-old Chase Marco Wilson, who was represented by defense attorney Brian McDaniel.

During Tuesday’s proceeding, Judge Sampson sentenced Wilson to 40 years, suspending all but 25 years, and five years of supervised probation for second-degree murder, a concurrent 15 years, the first five years without parole, for firearm use in a felony or violent crime and a concurrent three years for having a handgun on his person.

A jury found Wilson guilty of the aforementioned charges in July 2023 in connection to Fruh’s murder on Aug. 31, 2022, on the 4400 block of Marble Hall Road. The defendant was accused of robbing the victim and his friend after they had met to buy a quarter-pound of marijuana from Wilson.

While the prosecution argued this was a drug deal turned robbery, McDaniel claimed Fruh attacked his client who then acted in self-defense.
