On Nov. 14, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled the trial of a 39-year-old murder defendant.

Steven Gibson is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person and firearm possession with a felony conviction in connection to the May 6 death of Nathaniel Mack.

The stand-in prosecutor offered Gibson a sentence of life, suspending all but 50 years, with five years of supervised probation for first-degree murder. Gibson rejected the offer.

When Judge Copeland asked if the parties could begin trial today, defense attorney Amanda Savage said the prosecution had not revealed all the evidence being used in the case. Likewise, the stand-in prosecutor explained that the assigned prosecutor was beginning a trial in another court today.

Judge Copeland scheduled Gibson’s four-day trial to begin on April 8, 2024.

According to a Baltimore Police Department press release, officers responding to the 2100 block of Hollins Street found 40-year-old Mack suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead on the scene.
